International Energy and Investment Days
The VII International Energy and Investment Days were held in Novi Sad on 1-2 March 2018, in organisation of the Central European Development Forum - CEDEF, Provincial Secretariat for Energy, Construction and Transport and Novi Sad Fair.
In the focus of this year's International Energy and Investment Days were topical issues in the field of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, construction and environmental protection: water management, sustainable and green building, green energy, energy efficiency, climate changes and public private partnership & ESCO contracts.
The goals of the International Energy and Investment Days are to:
- encourage business contacts and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders in the field of energy sector, green energy, environmental protection, construction and local development in Serbia and the region
- enable the potential investors to get acquainted with the investment projects and thus stimulate increasing investments in the energy sector, industrial parks and construction of wastewater treatment plants
- present the advanced technology and forms of financing energy projects
- contribute to greater use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures
- contribute to ecologically conscientious construction of facilities
- stimulate the implementation of ESCO contracts and public-private partnerships in Serbia and the region
- affects the impact of climate change

International Energy and Investment Days 2018 were opened by Aleksandar Antić, minister of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, and audience was adressed by Nenad Grbić, provincial secretary from Provincial Secretariat for Energy and Haralambos Kunalakis, Minister Counselor. The opening was attended by Ivan Đoković, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism and Dušan Bajatović, General Manager of JP "Srbijagas".
The key topic of this year's Forum was energy efficiency with its financing models, as well as the importance of wind farms, bearing in mind the strength and perspective of Vojvodina's wind farm, as more than 90 percent of all wind farms in Serbia will be located in Vojvodina.
It was concluded that energy and investments are an inseparable link, which is currently fully harmonised in Serbia. Today Serbia must take a major step in entering a large investment cycle, which is reflected in the energy sector.
The signing of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Provincial Secretariat for Energy, Construction and Transport and the Trade Union of Construction Workers and Industry of Building Materials of Vojvodina and Novi Sad, as well as the Agreement on patronage of the Novi Sad Fair and the City of Zrenjanin was signed.

At this year’s event over 20 conferences were held with representatives of government, local self-governments, relevant international and domestic financial institutions and organisations, business entities and agencies in the field of energy and construction sector.

First day - March 1st, 2018
Gala Plenary Conference: "Directions of Energy Development - Sustainability and Competitiveness of the Country and the Region"
At this conference speakers were Nenad Grbić, Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport, Dimitrios Mezartasoglou, the head of the Research Center of the South East Europe Energy Institute - IENE. Also the IENE’s “SE Europe Energy Outlook 2016/17” was presented.
Green megawatts of Serbia (Wind farms)
The focus of this conference was the energy potential of Serbia reflected in the wind energy, as well as the possible directions for efficient use of this energy source. Realised, current and future projects in this domain were also presented.
The speakers at this conference were Nenad Grbić, Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport, Ludo Vandervalden, Elicio NV Director, Tiziano Giovannetti, General Manager of Fintel Energija a.d. Belgrade, Željko Đurić, Director of the Balkan Power Plant, Miloš Colić, Project Manager, Electrawinds K-Wind and Marija Bojadžijevska from the Energohelis Group. The moderator at this conference was Rudolf Tot, Assistant to the Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport.
Biomass, biogas and solar energy: The largest reservoir of renewable energy in Serbia
The conference discussed the regulatory framework in the domain of RES, the possibilities for the development of the biomass market in Serbia and the importance of the Energy Management System. The use of biomass boilers and solar irrigation are beneficial.
Participants at this conference were Dragan Stefanović, Project Coordinator, UNDP, Dragan Urosević, Project Coordinator, UNDP, Peter Olajos, Director of Green Player from Hungary, Rastislav Kragić, Independent Advisor, Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Džakić, Panonske TE-TO, Dejan Panić, Advisor to the President of the Municipality of Nova Crnja and Miodrag Vuković, Director of Conseko, Member of the Energy Efficiency Cluster Association. The role of moderator had prof. Saša Igić, Assistant to the Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport.
Financing of green energy projects in Serbia: PPP and ESCO models
The focus of the conference was to reach the EE, the ESCO contracts and solutions for improving energy use and reducing energy costs.
The conference was attended by the following experts: Dragana Jović, Adviser in the Ministry of Mining and Energy, Nenad Antešević, Advisor in the Department for Housing and Architecture Policy, Utility Activities and Energy Efficiency of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Ankica Barbulov, Director of GGE, Đorđe Popović, a partner in the CMS law office and Strahinja Mladenović, Manager for Serbia, Enviros. The moderator was Maja Barać Stojanović, General Director of CEDEF.
Financing of EE and RES projects in the economy
The conference was focused on presenting green innovation vouchers, as well as credit lines for the development of EE and RES. Energy solutions in the function of energy and financial savings are also presented.
Dragoljub Gajić, EBRD Green Voucher Program Manager, Srđan Šobat, Project Manager, GGE, Goran Vasić, APV Guarantee Fund and Darko Ivković, KfW, spoke at this conference. Maja Barać Stojanović, General Director of CEDEF, had the role of moderator.
Water management in Serbia and future technologies
The conference presented vacuum waste water drainage systems, as well as examples of good practice in the field of construction and reconstruction of water systems in local self-governments.
At this conference, the participants were addressed by Stevan Ilinčić, Assistant Director for the Danube-Tisa-Danube Hydro System, JVP Vode Vojvodine, Srđan Draganović, Sales Director for Europe, EkoVak - Roediger, Petar Pižurica, Executive Director of Production Department, JKP Vodovod i kanalizacija Subotica i Jasmina Štrbac, Head of the Department for Economic and Economic Development and Diaspora, Municipality of Veliko Gradište. Moderator was Prof Rajko Bojčić.
New technologies that change the world
The aim of the conference was to show the way to save energy through raising awareness of users by using new technologies, the HORIZON 2020 project - MOEEBIUS. The importance of using software in energy management, as well as the method of acoustic emission testing in pressure equipment, was shown.
The participants at this conference were Bojan Bogdanović, operational manager of engineering, JKP Beogradske elektrane, Urban Zadel, supervisor of inspection supervision, EcoPlin Zadel and Željko Zečević, RES Foundation - Good energy network. The role of moderator is entrusted to prof. Rajko Bojčić.
Second day - March 2, 2018
Chapter 27: Priorities, Expertise and Financing
Expertise was given at the conference and priorities and challenges, legal framework and funding in the domain of Chapter 27 were presented.
This conference was marked by the participation of Ivan Karić, State Secretary from the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, Miroslav Tadić, UNDP, and Dragan Dilparić from the Environmental Protection Committee, AmCham. The moderator was Sandra Kamberović, Waste Industry Association "Hrabri čistač".
Sustainable and green construction: new trends and good practices
The focus of the conference was to present new trends in the field of sustainable and green construction, as well as to promote successful examples from practice.
At this conference speakers were: Dejan Spasić, Regional Representative for the North of Serbia, Sika, Duška Grujić, Business Development Manager of Serbia and Montenegro, Saint Gobain, Edin Dalifi, Technical Consultant, Knauf Insulation, Zoran Pajić, Gerontology Center Subotica, Ivan Ignjatović, Institute for Materials and Structures, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade and Nikola Blagojević, Coordinator of the Climate Change Program, Movement of the Mountains of Vojvodina. The role of moderator had Dragana Korica, Executive Director, Green Building Council of Serbia.
CEDEF Climate Panel of Serbia
The panel presented the program "For cleaner and greener schools", examples of the implementation of EE measures in schools, as well as the operation of the organisation „Pokret gorana Srbije“ was presented.
Ankica Tabak, Undersecretary for Urbanism and Environmental Protection, Valerija Ember, Energy Agency, Novi Sad and Aleksa Jeftić, Vojvodina Mountain Movement, presented their expertise at this conference. Aleksandar Macura, founder of the RES Foundation, had the role of moderator and speaker.
Challenges of using geothermal energy in Serbia
The conference presented the program of heat pumps, as well as a practical example of their application at the Hilton Hotel in Belgrade, as well as in the industry.
The speakers at this conference were Danilo Miljković, Energy Efficiency Cluster Association, and Bojan Grujički, Director of Viessmann. The moderator was prof. Rajko Bojčić.
Smart cities and villages of Serbia
In the focus of the conference was the concept of the first smart village in Serbia. An example of the Solar Valley as an EE settlement, as well as e - houses were presented.
The speakers were prof. Zoltan Zavargo, President of the Energy Efficiency Cluster Association, Nikola Džolev, Member of the Energy Efficiency Cluster Association and Dejan Panić, Advisor to the President of the Municipality of Nova Crnja. The moderator was Maja Barać Stojanović, General Director of CEDEF.
Why do we need Energy Management Offices
The conference aimed to highlight the importance of energy management and energy managers, as well as to show good practice examples.
Nikola Vujović, RES Foundation - Good Energy Network and Slobodan Jerotić, energy manager of the town of Šabac participated at the last conference. The moderator was Maja Barać Stojanović, General Director of CEDEF.
PRESENTATIONAL PLATEAU
Visitors had the opportunity to listen to many presentations on the Presentational plateau.
On the first day of the event, Lidija Povržan, the Association of Energy Efficiency Cluster, had a presentation on the topic Energy Efficiency in Food Processing - dryers with a heat pumps.
Dejan Vlaški, president of the Eko Kurir Club, presented the concept of Bike Messenger Culture in Novi Sad within the theme Eco Courier - Green Entrepreneurship.
Vladimir Grujović, Head of the Local Economic Development Board of the City of Čačak, gave a presentation of Energy Cities in Serbia.
Finally, Dejan Panić, Advisor to the President of the Municipality of Nova Crnja held a presentation of Nova Crnja: The concept of the first smart village in Serbia.
On the second day of the event, the first presentation on the Presentational plateau was held by EkoVak Novi Sad - Roediger Germany on the theme Vacuum Waste Water System - Environmental protection.
Urban Zadel, Supervisor of Inspection Supervision, Eco Gas Zadel had the Presentation of Innovative Technologies: EcoPlin, Slovenia.
Among the presenters were young innovators, Đorđe Ogrizović, with the topic Removal of oil from water by the method of hydrodynamic cavitation, Nikola Tepić, with the topic "Recycle, planting, nature reward" and Jovan Mitić, with the topic Improving the microwave-assisted catalytic decomposition reaction in the non-absorbent medium.
