Programme of the Third Danube Business Forum
On the first day, the EU Danube Strategy was discussed on the Plenary Opening Session. The Strategy is a relatively new concept of European Union policy and it contributes to the improvement of cooperation between the countries of the Danube basin. Afterwards, followed the Award presentation ceremony “Danube Flower” which gives recognition for exceptional contribution to the regional development of the Danube countries and to creativity in public policy, business, and culture. The first panel discussed sustainable development, where the main emphasis was placed on energy, water resources and green industry. The second panel was devoted to businesses that are achieving prosperity, where industry and chambers of commerce took the lead.
Upon completion of the panel, on the first day of the Forum, there was an Award Ceremony to hand out the "Danube Captain" Award.
The Plenary Session on the second day was reserved for agribusiness and how countries in the region can improve their cooperation in agribusiness. After the Session followed the Panel which covered the Danube and intermodal transport, one of the key topics in the region. Representatives of ports, railways, customs and other stakeholders discussed pressing issues. This Panel was followed by the last Panel of the second day, which discussed a particularly important topic for the present, and also for the future, women leaders in businesses.
The third day of the Danube Business Forum started with the Plenary Session “Development of a knowledge society”, and it provided a platform for discussion about new technologies, innovation and creativity, all in order to create new jobs. This Session was ideally followed by the Panel “Young leaders, Training and Employment”. The topics which were discussed on the last day of the Forum represent some of the most important items for the future of all countries in the region.
"Regional cooperation in economic and environmental terms is extremely significant. It is especially important when neighboring countries share a certain natural resource and, thus, are automatically connected. Danube, as one of the largest rivers, connecting almost all the countries of the Western Balkans and Central Europe, and it is natural that, as such, is one of the backbone of regional cooperation. However, we are aware that the potentials of cooperation in this area is much bigger than used nowadays. In this sense, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands wishes to support the Third Danube Business Forum and convey our best experiences when it comes to water management in a broad sense".
Throughout the Danube Business Forum there was a parallel program of poster presentations where the leaders of municipalities, cities and companies had the opportunity to present their investment projects and other offers.
