USAGE AND TREATMENT OF MUNICIPAL AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE WATER

PARTNER COUNTRY ISRAEL

Central European Development Forum, CEDEF supported by the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection APV and under institutional auspices of Ministry of Agriculture and Environment RS and the Agency for Environmental Protection RS, organized the VI Annual International CEDEF ENERGY FORUM "USAGE AND TREATMENT OF MUNICIPAL AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE WATER." The partner country of the Forum was the state of Israel.

In Serbia, only 20% of municipalities have facilities for municipal wastewater treatment, while it does not have the large urban centers such as Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis. Accession to EU requirement fulfillment of the conditions of Chapter 27, relating to Environmental Protection. Therefore, CEDEF intensively continued its efforts to implement the program and point out significant issues and problems in the area of municipal and industrial waste and wastewater management.

The goals of the Forum are:

• To point out the current critical situation in Serbia regarding the usage and treatment of municipal and industrial waste water as well as the challenges that this sector faces,
• To presented an example of good practice in the region and Serbia, relevant existing legislation and compatibility with EU regulations and plans of the Republic of Serbia in the area of industrial and municipal waste water,
• To presented the world experience, especially Israeli experience and advanced technology for waste water treatment in Serbia,
• To encouraged responsible behavior during the use of water in order to ensure sustainable development in Serbia and the region and to highlight the importance of proper waste water treatment.

Central European Development Forum, CEDEF supported by the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning for VI Annual International CEDEF Energy Forum edited publication "Using and treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater in the Republic of Serbia" which was an integral part of the material prepared for the participants and attendees of the Forum.
